Magic Loop and Stash
Dan was out of town this weekend, so I needed a solo activity to keep me occupied where I could keep my leg up for a while. What else other than knitting? I have some odd bits of Koigu left over from the skirt project, so, I printed out a couple of tutorials and decided to see if I could figure out how to do Magic Loop and two-socks-at-once. It is, unsurprisingly, pretty easy, though I can't see it being a good way to do patterned socks. The only problem is the laddering - I am pulling the first stitch on each half so tight that it is difficult to get the stitches back onto the tips when I pull the cable through, but there's still a noticeable laddering. I'm sure I'll figure it out over time.
I will probably start actually using this method for socks that don't involve cables and lace, too, because I can already tell that I will complete a piar of socks much faster if I make them both at once. My lone Baudelaire is still wondering when I might cast on for his mate.
My other weekend project was a trip to Ikea to see if I could find a good solution for yarn storage. Lo and behold, we found Traby. I love the way it looks, and it holds an obscene amount of yarn. Which is good, since I, in fact, own an obscene amount of yarn. I got four and two sets of drawers, so I will use one half for yarn and the other half for additional clothing storage in our bedroom, thus cleaning up two problems at once. I can not figure out the instructions for actually securing the four together - Ikea brilliantly has no explanation whatsoever in its directions which I'm sure saves them money on multilingual instructions but results in basically being not much better than having no instructions at all. Here's hoping Dan can figure it out when he gets home, and unload the other three from my car, haha.
